BSc. Medical Laboratory Technology

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology is a paramedical program that offers practical and theoretical knowledge about the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various kinds of diseases and health problems with the help of clinical laboratory tests. Medical Laboratory professionals play an important role in the diagnosis of the diseases and providing the best care and treatment available for it.

During the program, students learn to detect and diagnose diseases and learn about the different treatments available for them. They also acquire knowledge about the collection and sampling of important data, testing, documentation, and reporting for the same.

To excel in the program students should have good research skills and an ability to finish the task accurately. Students should also have a background and aptitude towards science, laboratory equipment, and instruments and the ability to use a computer and its applications effectively.

DETAILS OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

SSSCE APPLICANTS

Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE): with an aggregate score of  twenty-four (24) or better in six (6) subjects comprising: A – D in all three (3) core subjects  i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and at least passes i.e. (A – D)  in three (3) elective subjects in  Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Elective Mathematics

WASSCE APPLICANTS

Applicants must have obtained credits (A1 – C6 in WASSCE) in the following core subjects: English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies In addition, applicants must have obtained three (3) credits (A1 – C6 in WASSCE) in the following Elective Subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Elective Mathematics.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS AND GHANAIANS WITH
EXTERNAL EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS

Acceptable for Admission Include the following:
Senior Secondary School Certificates (WASSCE)
International Baccalaureate (IB)
GCE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels
IGCSE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels
American High School Grade – Grade 12 &13 examinations
Other external qualifications which have equivalences to the
WASSCE and the GCE (A Levels
Entry requirements for applicants with any of these credentials shall be NAB
equivalences of the WASSCE grades in the subjects listed under WASSCE
Applicants.
